Tools: Pencil
Time: 10~15 minutes
Playlist: "The IT Crowd" playing in the background. (Still)
Commentary: I tagged this as mature/NSFW. Just in case. Anyway, I'm working on anatomy and using different poses. I can feel myself leveling up. LOL

I can see the improvement too! Plus there are lots of stock pose groups here on dA to choose from.  ^^

When I was little I would practice by recording shows on VHS and pausing it on TV to draw.  I guess the internet changed all that, but I think it's too easy to get distracted online when looking up stock photos. XD

Yay! I need to join some of them. Right now, I'm working with this book of nude models that I picked up at Barnes & Noble a while back. It's not bad at all, and it's in monochrome. Makes shading A LOT easier.

ARE YOU ME? O_O

Seriously, I learned to draw from watching Disney's Fantasia, pausing random scenes, and drawing whatever was there. So much nostalgia, man. OMGGGGG

Yeah, I pretty much gave up on drawing on the computer since I always end up doing something else instead of focusing on my picture. I prefer drawing with pencil and paper over drawing tablets anyway, so it works out in the end.

I need to get in on that sketchbook action.  I have 7 million of them in my closet I haven't touched in years. Lol

For me it was Beauty and the Beast.  I drew the illustration on the VHS tape's box.  (Maybe that's why I'm obsessed with ballgowns....  Who knows.)  Actually, I made my mom draw it because she did it perfectly.  I didn't even know she could draw.  XD  Then when I discovered anime, I drew that off paused videos.  I burned a hole through my Sailor Moon and Magic Knight Rayearth tapes.  Heck, I even drew DBZ and Iria.  XD

Me too.  I have this Wacom Tablet sitting here collecting dust.  It just feels so...awkward to me.  And the stylus response isn't the same as using a plain old pencil and eraser.  It's glitchy and annoying and I hate zooming and dragging the screen around to see the whole picture.  I don't know how digital artists do it.  XD

I can relate. I only recently started using them again. Initially, it was just for doodling, but I'm starting to put a little more effort. ^^;;

That was seriously the best Disney film back then. Belle is still awesome. Your mom can draw? o_O That's cool! There are A LOT of talented people in your family, man. It's so cool that you can look back on your memories with your family and remember all the times they shared your interests.

Same! Remember my crappy cassettes? Believe it or not, the one I loaned you in high school (or was it middle school?) was the most decent one I had. LOL. That's pretty sad. My Iria VHS is the only anime VHS I have that still works. And Haunted Junction. I found the DVD for that though. Thankfully. Now I can ziplock it with the rest of my crap from the 90s that I fear will be damaged by dust and time.

Honestly, I have a great deal of respect for anyone that can master the whole tablet-and-Photoshop/Painter/Sai combination. Like you, I get so annoyed by the technical difficulties that I just switch back to the traditional stuff. Not complaining. There is nothing like a fresh box of colored pencils, crayons, and markers. Not even a new $100-$400 program compares. ;w;
